Contra-Indications (When Not To Wax): - Clients using Retin A, Renova, Accutane, AHA, Glycolic acid, Alpha Hydroxide treatments, chemical peels or any other skin thinning products. Never remove hair from warts or moles, nipples, recent scar tissue, eyelashes, inside nose or ears, or sunburned skin. Any systemic disease such as cancer (risk of infection), insulin dependent-Diabetes Mellitus (very prone to bruising: coagulation is slower), Herpes Simplex (cold sores), etc. Vascular problems such as couperose of the face, varicose veins, and phlebitis. Any signs of eruption, abrasion, open wounds, irritation, inflammation or hypersensitivity.
- For personal comfort of your female client, you should avoid waxing during their menstrual cycle due to increased sensitivity and water retention. Clients on chemotherapy (their immune system is affected and can increase risk of infection). If client has been shaving or using a chemical depilatory, ask them to discontinue at least 2 weeks prior to waxing. When in doubt, don’t wax.
